Duties Term 4 - Everyone picks up rubbish after their duty

1. Legacy & Te Uwhinga Kitchen sink and kitchen area including the fridge
2. Jada - rubbish boxes cleared in the morning, interval and lunches
3. Dallas - Shoes inside and outside after interval, lunch  / rubbish on the floor
4. Kody - Bags on the hooks, bag area tidy and pick up rubbish on floor
5. Puna - Teacher's desk and back computer area
6. Merani and Shannon - White board and pick up rubbish on floor
7. Tamanui  and Devontae - chairs pushed in and desks are straight
8. John - blinds open and close lunch, windows open and close, interval and home time and pick up rubbish on the floor
9. Isaiah and Jahmal - clean math area and math shelves, then straighten the tables
10. Devandre and Toka - Clean in front and behind the class room during interval, lunch / straighten the tables
11. Izayah - under the active board / rubbish on the floor
12. Charlez - to clean the paper shelves and dictionary area
13. Jada - computers set up / collect lunch orders
14. Shaniqua - library / under the library, empty bins if need be
15 Kaitiaki - PE gear and picking up rubbish on the floor
16. Michael - milk monitor / check  milk bin / clothes in basket (folded and tidy) / PE Monitor

Year 5-6 Netball – Most Improved Player

Girls’ Cross Country Award
For the highest-placed finisher in either the MPSSA, CCSA, Counties or Auckland finals. In a tie, preference will be given to Auckland finals, then Counties finals, then (equally) MPSSA/CCSA. If anyone wins an event at any level, they will be considered as first choice for the award. Making the Auckland finals would be second, then Counties and then (equally), the highest-placed finished at

MPSSA or CCSA.
Senior Girls Sports Award
Awarded to the girl who has achieved the most in sport this year. Criteria include being involved in a lot of teams over the year, selection in representative teams, showing leadership (maybe captained some teams), showing exemplary sportsmanship, having a ‘never give up’ attitude.

Boys’ Cross Country Award

Manu Korero Award (TWA)
Awarded to the person in TWA who uses Te Reo Maori the most in everyday situations. This might include speaking confidently in Te Reo during karakia and TWA assemblies, or when representing
TWA at events both inside and outside school. Is able to initiate a conversation in Te Reo Maori.

Tuakana Teina Award (TWA)
Awarded to a Senior School student in TWA who supports others in a positive manner. This might involve helping them in the classroom, during TWA events (such as whakawhanaungatanga days) or in the playground generally.

Ihipa Patricia Lambert Memorial Trophy For Perseverance
Awarded to a student in TWA who, while they might not be a noted highest achiever, does not give up and continues to persevere.

Te Whanau Awhina Girls’ Award (TWA)
Awarded to a Year 8 girl. They must be in kapa haka, sports teams, achieve well academically and use Te Reo Maori at a competent level. Preference will be given to girls who have been in the unit for a number of years. The winner must be able to whakapapa back to their iwi.

Te Whanau Awhina Boys’ Award (TWA)
Awarded to a Year 8 boy. They must be in kapa haka, sports teams, achieve well academically and use Te Reo Maori at a competent level. Preference will be given to boys who have been in the unit for a number of years. The winner must be able to whakapapa back to their iwi.

Choir Trophy (not awarded in 2014)
Awarded to the best student in choir. This should be someone who memorises their words on time, leads by example, can sing in tune and does not muck around during practices.

Clark Memorial Encouragement Award (Year 3 or 4 Student, awarded at Junior Prizegiving in 2014)
Awarded to a student in Year 3 or 4 for consistently good behaviour and participation in all areas of class activities.

Dedication to Cultural Activities Award
Awarded to someone who may either be involved in a lot of cultural groups at our school (including school productions such as Clendon’s Got Talent), or be a standout performer in a large cultural group (eg kapa haka, Tupulaga).

The Improver’s Cup (Most Improved Behaviour)
Awarded to someone whose behaviour at the start of the year was less than perfect (may have gotten into a lot of trouble early on), but who is now on the straight and narrow. May now be viewed as a role model at our school.

Mainfreight Duffy Award (Perseverance)
Awarded to someone who has made good progress this year, particularly academically. They do not need to be top of the class, but they should be someone who has consistently put in a lot of effort to ensure that they do the best they can.

Outstanding Effort and Perseverance
Awarded to someone who always tries hard in everything they do, whether it is in the classroom, on the sports field, in cultural groups, etc. They must show resilience and determination. This award is more focussed on overall effort and perseverance across all aspects of school life, rather than just one area (eg academic) in particular.

Consistent Sense of Responsibility Award
Awarded to someone who may hold roles of responsibility at school. They can be relied on to do things properly, they use their initiative and are completely trustworthy.

Outstanding School Spirit Award
Awarded to someone who encapsulates what it is to be a Clendon Park student. They should have a positive personality, a good attitude and encourage others. They should demonstrate both initiative and leadership at all times.

Dedication and Commitment to School Life
Awarded to someone who participates in as many things as possible – eg sports, cultural, other.
School Councillors’ Cup (not awarded in 2014)
Awarded to the Year 7-8 student who has demonstrated the highest sustained level of positive leadership over the year.

Greatest Academic Progress
Awarded to the student whose levels in reading, writing and maths have improved the most between Term 1 and Term 4. Evidence of these levels should be included in your nomination.

The Graduates Cup (Top Year 6 Te Puawai Academic Award)
Awarded to the top academic student in Te Puawai Year 6. This is based purely on end of year levels for reading, writing and maths.

The Teachers’ Choice Award
The criteria of this award is decided by the teachers who nominate students for it. So when you nominate students for it, you need to set the criteria you are nominating them under.

The Board of Trustees Cup
The criteria of this award is decided by the teachers who nominate students for it. So when you nominate students for it, you need to set the criteria you are nominating them under.

Academic Excellence Award
Based purely on end of year levels – maths, reading and writing. These are collated and the top overall student wins this award. In the event of a tie, the student with the highest ‘Above Standard’ level will win.

Principal’s Award For Consistent Effort & Attitude

Awarded to an outstanding student in the school. This person should be a leader who has contributed to enhancing the well-being of school life, a high achiever in all aspects of learning, have a consistently positive attitude towards all tasks and be an outstanding role model in our school.

Term 3 Forward Dates
(21 July to 26 Sept)

This is a 10 week term and there will be several assessments done over this period. All assessments will provide data that will be sent to the Ministry of Education. The theme of the first part of the term is the Common wealth games.  After that we will look at Maori leaders and Careers and finally look at the elections. During the term there are several big events for the school. They include the HSP expo in week 6, the senior speech competitions in week 7 and week 8, week 9 Clendon Got Talent and week 10 He Manukura Trip.

Near the end of the term 2 we will be having an awesome trip to TAUPO. We will be in Ngati Tuwharetoa territory and staying at the local marae - Pukawa. Ma Cynthia and Whaea Nicky have many exciting activities planned. It is sure to be a really exciting time. The trip will be at a discounted price of $80. Notices will go home in the first week of term 2. Mauri ora!
