Reading in front of others

The students in Pukeko class have been reading Maori books at level KKA and have re-written the sentences in the story "Etahi kai" and have made their own books. The process involved reading the story to familiarise themselves with the sentences and then using the dictionary to find new words and making their own sentences. It took alot of cooperative work and planning to finish their books. Not bad for a first try. Mauri ora!

Success stories in Pukeko Class

We have been busy bees in Pukeko class over the past few weeks. Big congratulations to Te Uwhinga for winning the middle year Pink T-shirt logo competition with King Home boy. She absolutely deserves this award as she is a very caring student who dislikes bullying.

Awesome work from our orchestra students - Shaniqua, Shannon, Calais and Merani who performed last night at the George Hawkins theatre. Your behaviour was excellent and your performance made everyone very proud.

Big ups to Merani and Leilani Mei who both got certificates and books at the last two whole school assemblies for been hard working students. Mauri ora!

Dance for Asthma Information

Firstly, congratulations on committing to Dance 4 Asthma. We have received our first finished dance! I will post this next week.
There's still plenty of time for you to produce your video - you have until 5.00pm the 19th June to load it on YouTube. Please name your video – Dance 4 Asthma 2014 – (and your school name here) so we can easily find them.
To see who else is dancing, take a look at the Dance 4 Asthma page on our website. Here you will find a list of all the schools as well as links to their bragging selfies. You can also find the 2013 videos
complete with comments from Erin Simpson, who will once again be judging Dance 4 Asthma.
Speaking about bragging selfies, thanks to all the schools who've had a chance to send these through. When you do, we also post the links on our facebook page giving you an opportunity to brag to your community, family and friends. Feel free to post positive comments on our facebook page about how your school will be dancing for asthma.
Did you know that an estimated 550,000 school days are lost every year due to asthma! For the 1 in 7 of our kids who take asthma medication it is so important to be active to be healthy. So once again congratulations for helping us to raise the profile in a fun way to your school community.
Any questions please email or call.

Cheers
C
