Our awesome trip to the Maritime museum and cruise on the Ted Ashby is coming up this Tuesday. Make sure you are at school early with a warm jacket, hat, packed lunch and shoes. Do not bring any money! We leave at 9:00 am. If you are late, you will miss out!

It is going to be EXCITING! YAY!

Parts of a Yacht

We are learning parts of a yacht before our trip to the Maritime Museum and Ted Ashby. These are the parts that we will learn.

Kupu Ingoa (Names of the parts of yacht)

1. Hull - Body of the boat
2. Bow - Front of the boat
3. Stern - Back of the boat
4. Keel - Stablises the boat
5. Rudder - Steers the boat
6. Deck - Top of the hull
7. Cockpit - Where the crew control the boat
8. Companion way - Opening to the cabin
9. Tiller - Attached to the rudder and used to steer the boat
10. Mast - Pole on the boat that holds the sail
11. Sail - Used to catch the wind
12. Starboard - right side of the boat
13. Port - left side of the boat

Hot Lunches Coming Soon

Our next trip on the Ted Ashby Scow and Maritime Museum

We are a very lucky class. Starting from next week we will be learning about the Ted Ashby Yacht and sailing around the Waitemata harbour. We will learn more exciting stories about the local Māori history of Tamakimakaurau. Mauri ora! Check out the link for more information here

Te Manurewa o Tamapahore

Thanks to Mr Lysaght (Bus driver), Whaea Emma (support teacher) and Matua Kapi (Mana whenua) for supporting our trip to the sacred mountains of Te Manurewa o Tamapahore. Matukutureia. He maunga tapu tēnei. Matukutururu. He maunga ataahua tēnei. Mauri ora!

What a lovely class!

We have some awesome students and whanau in our class. They love to bring in goodies to share with their teacher and class mates. A big THANK YOU! to you all.

It was wonderful meeting Mauri's mum, Cezahn's mum, Diezel's mum and Mairangi's dad at our whanau hui tonight. It was a positive meeting talking about our past achievements and future aspirations and goals.

Te Manurewa o Tamapahore

We are learning about the history of Manurewa. The original name is Te Manurewa o Tamapahore. "The drifted away kite of Tamapahore". We are learning the stories of the sacred mountains and the two rangatira Tamapahure and Tamapahore.

In our "Te Reo o te Ata" we are learning to say the following:

Pātai) E noho ana koe ki hea? (Where do you live?)

Whakautu) Kei Te Manurewa o Tamapahore ahau e noho ana. (I live in Manurewa)
