Roscommon Athletics & Kapahaka Day 2011

Room 19 had a fantastic time mixing and mingling with other students from Roscommon and Wiri School Maori Bilingual units. It was a get together for sport and kapahaka. We did shot put, discus, sprints in the Athletics and then performed Poi, Waiata a ringa, and Haka for Kapahaka.

Duffy Assembly Detroit in the House!

Detroit was selected from Room 19's Fantastic Kakapo Kids to receive a Super Duffy book from our Duffy Hero Alison Quigan aka Yvonne Jefferies from Shortland Street.

Taura Tangata Rocks!

Kakapo Kool Kids looked awesome in their kapahaka uniforms. They did their school proud when they performed in front of a pack house at Manurewa Intermediate. They performed an action song, poi dance, and a mighty haka. There were many proud whanau in the audience. There were many other exciting groups including Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island, Indian, Te Tai Tonga, and James Cook High. Everybody had a great time.

Great job done by our fabulous Kakapo Kool Kids who came 2nd and 3rd in the Year 4 speech finals. We are all very proud of your achievements. It takes alot of confidence to stand up and speak in front of so many people in the hall. Ka mau te wehi!

Christina spoke about Casey Williams in a clear and concise voice. Awesome!

Myra was the first speaker of the competition. She did an excellent job!

Kakapo Kool Kids had fun with the Manurewa Police. They let us in their Police Cars and Vans. We even arrested some of the naughty kids hehe!

Buddy Reading Fun!

Room 19 had a blast sharing stories in Te Reo Maori with Room 17. We learnt new Maori words and read our stories together. It was great fun!
